I did not mean to imply that being happy is as simple as flipping a switch; I just meant that it is always (or at least almost always) entirely in the hands of the person who is unhappy.

Happiness is rarely easy, but it's always possible.

Anyone who doesn't believe that obviously hasn't ever experienced true happiness, so their opinion can't be viewed as valid.¹
