The Temple of the Star

I. Paralyzed By Near

"Come the dawn, the sun shall rise in the west."

-- Last recorded words of Malaclypse the Younger --

Set against the evening sun

Stands a statue of a demon,

Wet with rain and ivy-clad...

Cold, commanding, unrelenting

In its resolution. Representing

Every ending. Representing no one.

The world stands in stasis.

Behold!

... The frozen faces...

And I...

I stand before the sunset, waiting

To begin the trip... debating

Who remains to be invited...

The world stands in stasis.

I, already, am delighted.

Moving, walking, limping... laughter

Fills the air around us. After

This the sun will set,

The curtains fall, we all forget

The failures and the bitterness...

The world stands in stasis.

All creation waits on this.

On us.

Our footprints rest in dust.

And in the darkness, far behind us,

Sleep those things that might remind us

That life

Is suffering. And obligation.

My footprints are an invitation.

The world stands in stasis...

Behold the frozen faces!

And set against the evening sun

Stands a statue of a demon,

Wet with rain and ivy-clad...

Cold, commanding, unrelenting

In its resolution. Representing

Every ending. Representing no one.
